A well-known man once said, "What a good thing for leaders that men don't think." This gentleman knew exactly what he was talking about, for he was a master at controlling and manipulating public opinion- primarily through the media.
After Thursday's caucuses in Iowa, Chicago television stations did their very best to promote the candidacy of Barak Obama, ignoring virtually everyone else, including the Republican winner, Mike Huckabee. All three major networks devoted an exorbitant amount of time to covering his so-called "acceptance" speech during their local prime-time newscasts, and promoting him as the "next Savior" of America!
I've always had a problem with "people-worship" of any kind. I don't care who the person is or what he does, HE'S STILL JUST A PERSON LIKE THE REST OF US! But you wouldn't think that of Obama if you spend any time listening to or watching most Chicago media.
Being a forty year veteran of both secular and Christian broadcasting, I used to scoff at the notion that the media was biased. I was a staunch defender of our Fourth Estate, foolishly believing that the media was just the opposite! The last couple of Presidential elections have changed my opinion. It has become perfectly clear that once a media outlet "chooses" their candidate, most every story, from that point on, is slanted in their candidates favor.
Obama's speech was okay- but hardly the caliber of the Gettysburg Address OR the Sermon on the Mount! He is an accomplished speaker, no one can deny that. He has the ability (the same ability, by the way, of the gentlemen who made our opening remark) to wrap an audience around his finger...almost to the point they become "hypnotized" by his rhythmic speaking style. The funny thing is, he really didn't say anything new in his speech!
The so-called buzz-word for this upcoming election is "change." Everyone is touting their personal ability to bring about change. I remember Bill Clinton preaching the same sermon many years ago. May I remind you of the "changes" he ushered in?
How about turning the Oval Office into a moral cesspool! The most important room in the land went from being the center of power to becoming a cheap, seedly pornographic motel- only God really knows what kind of lurid, sexual activity took place under that desk!
And how about the "change" of integrity- Bill and Hillary were involved in so many cover-ups it's hard to keep count- from the death of a close legal advisor, to Whitewater!
How about the "change" of example? Most American's considered oral sex SEX, until Bill re-defined it! His example corrupted millions of young people in our society. Since it was perfectly acceptable to the President, it became perfectly acceptable to them as well. Statistics prove the INCREASE in oral sexual activity by young people immediately following the Monica Lewinsky affair.
How about the "change" of impeachment? Only one other President, Andrew Johnson, was ever impeached by the United States Senate. Like Bill, he too was exonerated...but unlike Bill the reasons for his impeachment had nothing to do with desecrating the highest office in the land or the lack of moral integrity!
How about the "change" of treating Osama Bin Laden and his cohorts with kid gloves? Had Bill been a little tougher, had he really been concerned about positive change, perhaps Osama would have been removed from the picture BEFORE 9/11!
I'm fully aware that just as many Republican presidents have made a mess of the office as well. No human being is above screwing up once in a while. We all have limitations that are inherent to our nature- we all blow it on occasion.
Barack Obama may be a fine man with tremendous abilities...but he still puts his pants on one leg at a time! I hope those who worship the ground he walks on wake up in time to realize "their man" is NOT Jesus Christ in the flesh! They may think he walks on water, but I'm sure even Barak knows better!
Yes, it is a good thing for leaders that men don't think. It's also the great tragedy of our times. By the way- the gentlemen who first made that comment? A man known as "Adi" to his closest friends and family, but known to the rest of the world as Adolph Hitler.

Recycled Speech just in a new package. Thanks for your thoughts.
Brian
Thank you for alerting us all to the consequences of blind submission to someone we really don't know very much about. One has to wonder what Barack's agenda for America might include if he were actually to be elected President.
I'm with Brian, same speech, new face. Getting sick of all the hype already and election time so far away. We can only pray that Christ comes back for us before we have to make a choice.

Aside from the lord, where can we go for truth? Whoever tells us what we want to hear, and makes our fears for the future go away, will be the one who captures our attention, the one we will stand by.
Without having truth to lay the information against, we have no way to think other than what we have been told over and over again.
Many in authority know exactly how to manipulate the weak-minded among us.Taking God out,and no longer having absolutes, puts the enemy in our ballpark.
